  • "Generosity" Small Group Curriculum (Participant Guide)- Portable Document Format (.pdf file)

Table of Contents:

ENCOUNTER 16 - WORLDVIEW AND APOLOGETICS

BIG IDEA:
How we view the world impacts every aspect of our lives. What we believe about how the world works, what is important and valuable, who we are, where we are going, why we are here, who God is, and what God is like shapes how we view the world and the choices we make.
Discussion passage – Acts 17:16-34

ENCOUNTER 17 - BAPTISM

BIG IDEA: Being baptized is an act of obedience to Jesus. It declares that someone has committed to follow Jesus. He is now their Authority and His way of life is what they will seek to be conformed to. It is an outward demonstration of what has happened on the inside. Baptism helps us tangibly experience a picture of what saving faith in Christ has accomplished.
Discussion passages – Acts 8:26-40 and/or Romans 6:1-11

GENEROSITY

ENCOUNTER 18 - GOD OWNS EVERYTHING. I AM HIS MONEY MANAGER*

BIG IDEA: God owns everything and He is incredibly generous. He has graciously entrusted to us money and possessions to meet our daily needs and use them for eternal impact.
Discussion passages – Psalm 50:1-15 and/or Matthew 25:13-30

ENCOUNTER 19 - MY HEART ALWAYS GOES TO WHERE I PUT GOD’S MONEY. GIVING IS THE ANTIDOTE TO MATERIALISM*

BIG IDEA: God owns everything and is incredibly generous. God gives us a forever, eternal view of how to handle money, helping us to understand how money and possessions direct our hearts and how giving and generosity protect our hearts.
Discussion passage – Matt 6:19-24

ENCOUNTER 20 - HEAVEN, NOT EARTH, IS MY HOME. LIVE FOR THE LINE, NOT THE DOT*

BIG IDEA: God is the source of all that is truly valuable. Heaven and eternity are more real than the daily events in which we live. When we understand these truths we live differently, knowing that today impacts eternity. This effects how we view money and possessions.
Discussion passages – Hebrews 11: 13-16 and/or 1 Timothy 6:16-19

ENCOUNTER 21 - GOD PROSPERS ME NOT TO RAISE MY STANDARD OF LIVING, BUT TO RAISE MY STANDARD OF GIVING*

BIG IDEA: God’s grace has given us everything we need for life and godliness. We especially recognize this when we view life from an eternal perspective. God’s generosity does not only provided righteousness and forgiveness. Much of the time He also entrust us with money and possessions beyond our essential needs. This is not for our own self-focused use but it is how he resources us to join him in what he is doing in the world.
Discussion passage – 2 Corinthians 9:6-14 or Luke 12:13-21
